Berry Delicious Breakfast

I spent a small fortune yesterday at the grocery store and I am historically bad about not using all of the produce and groceries I buy before they go bad. Determined to use up every bit of my purchases, especially the impulse purchase of organic blueberries, I turned again to Mama Pea for a delicious breakfast recipea.

I knew she wouldn't fail me. I substituted blueberries for apples and made Mama Pea's Apple Blueberry Cinnamon Pancakes.

I had everything I needed for the job.

C-Bizzle munched on a few blueberries while I worked.
Okay, he munched on a LOT of blueberries while I worked.
For some reason, I have a griddle and it was MUCH easier to cook pancakes on the griddle than spooning out the mixture, one pancake by one, onto a skillet, but you can cook them that way, too.
Look at all of those blueberries!
I need to work on my flipping skills.
Holy blueberries these things are good.

C-Bizzle said they were worth the wait.

Delicious.
He went into a blueberry zombie state he ate so much.
They were finger licking good.
Arm lickin good...

They may take a few minutes longer to make than frozen pancakes, but I'd make anything that made C smile like that.
He said they were so good, they'd make you smack your mama. Especially for making him take a bath to get all of the blueberry juice he was saving for later off of his face and hands.

Have a great weekend everyone and if you get the chance, head out to the bookstore to get this cookbook! You won't regret it!

The Birthday Post--A Mom in Denial

Although I have recently had a significant birthday (cough30cough), I am not ready to come to terms with that milestone.

Nor was I ready for C-Bizzle's 1st birthday. Ready or not, C turned one! Warning: Excessive pictures in this post.

One year ago One year and 14 days ago, this little boy joined our family (five of the hottest days in the history of the world after he was supposed to join our family) and changed our worlds forever.

Do we look terrified? Because we were. Terrified and totally in love.
We took C-Biz home 2 days after he was born and time has rudely flown by since then! We have had so many special memories with this sweet boy.
It's hard for me to believe my sweet pea was ever this teeny. What an angel.
Slow down time. I could live in moments like this one forever.
A visit to Knoxville on a the third Saturday in October...

A visit with Santa...
HUNDREDS of visits to the ballpark...
A visit to Greenfield with Daddy Judge...
Rainy days hanging out with Berry...
A visit to the beach...

A whale of a first birthday... (After several attempts to rotate this picture without success, I decided it was best for my sanity and for B's computer to leave it sideways. You're dealing with a computer genius here, people)
I have loved the first year with my sweet baby, and look forward to the many adventures we'll have as a family!

Princess

The really fun thing about only having girl cousins living in town is that there is no shortage of princess gear and girly toys around.

C$ found a crown from G's princess party and knew just what to do with it. I am saving these pictures to embarrass him on his first date, or at his rehearsal dinner, but I didn't want to be selfish and not share them with my 20 readers first...

Don't kid yourself, buddy. Putting it on backwards doesn't make it any less glittery.

At least he was a kind princess. He played with his royal subjects.
He picked up after himself.
He smiled for the paparazzi.

He wanted to make sure his Princess title was always visible.

Yep. (Disregard the mess in the back. I still haven't cleaned up all of his toys from his birthday. Don't judge me. We're working on a playroom so that we can hide this mess upstairs we have a nice place for him to play with all of his toys).

At the end of the day, C$ knows who the real princess of the house is. More like the Queen B but whatever.

Bonkers

Yesterday, I turned thirty. Today, C-Bizzle turned one. I keep repeating those facts over and over again. I am thirty with a one year old child. It sounds so bizarre and foreign to me, like when you repeat a strange word over and over again until you're not sure you're saying it right. Bonkers bonkers bonkers. That's my go-to funny word. It always makes me laugh. But this is. Bonkers. I am thirty with a one year old.

I'll keep trying it out until it sounds right.

This was about 3 minutes after my whole world changed forever. C$ was letting that nurse know he didn't care for her bedside manner.

Here he was on Saturday, letting me know he didn't care for the amount of icing on his hands when he wanted a drink of juice.

While I may not be wild about the idea of getting older, I am definitely wild about this guy. I love him to pieces and I am his mommy. That is something that sounds just right.

Happy Birthday to my sweet C-man! I love you!

The Beach Post

Warning: Picture overload (and no...these are not the only pictures I took).

This past week, we went on our annual vacation to Destin, Florida. We've been going for several years but this year, there was one big difference...

We made the decision because we didn't want a screaming baby all the way to Florida because we are super rebels, to turn C-Bizzle around 2 weeks before his 1st birthday so that he could enjoy the scenery as we drove.

Once we were there. He was ready for the beach. Can't you tell?
Daddy introduced him to the water, but it turns out, he didn't need much convincing to get right in.
He was a perfect sport and napped on the beach in his cheapo kiddie pool waterbed every day.

He was definitely able to find trouble down there as well.

Bad little thing.
Haha. Yes...I went to get my camera before helping my son up after he fell. Mom of the year.
C was a beach natural, despite his condition. Who says the fair-complected can't enjoy a little fun in the sun? That's why God created 100 spf sunscreen. Seriously.

He really liked loved the sand.

He loved it all.
He even got the chance to chase after an older woman. Look at those cute little beach bums!
I should have known he would not be afraid of the water.
No fear.

No need to alert the authorities. Billbo was standing right there as I took pictures of our fearless child.

I posted this blurry pic in hopes that Billbo will get me a new camera for my birthday because C-Bizzle looks so cute when he's blurry.

For those of you who are worried that I am becoming a sentimental schmuck who only posts baby pictures on my this blog, stay tuned for tomorrow's post: Top Ten Beach Peeves.
